A Traction Bar is required when a 4x4 is modified for heavier off road use or other special uses such as mud running, rock crawling etc. The use of larger tires and crawler gears results in considerably more torque being transferred to the axle housing, resulting in what is commonly referred to as axle wrap. This will severely reduce spring life and destroy universal joints plus adversely affect handling and driveability. For example axle wrap and hop will create washboard when climbing on gravel roads. This can be controlled by the use of heavier springs but at the loss of suspension travel and comfort. Our Traction Bar has been designed to eliminate all axle wrap but not to interfere with articulation or flexibility of the suspension. This is possible on the Samurai due to the offset third member allowing the traction bar to be mounted in a central position.

Purpose To improve articulation substantially without major rework or expense. These Drop Link Shackles are designed to replace standard shackles as a bolt on unit, and are set to a 4"closed shackle length as standard, giving the truck 1/2" of lift. They can drop out to a maximum length of 8" when fully extended. The actual extension is usually less, due to friction in the rubber bushings when crossed up. Under normal driving conditions they are not noticeable and will not affect handling. However, they are an extra joint or connection in your suspension system and should be driven accordingly and with caution.

These are heavy-duty replacement shackles designed to eliminate side-to-side sway but still allowing spring twist. This is achieved by tapping one side plate, threading high tensile bolts into it and then locking them with Stover lock nuts. This design allows you to tighten up the shackles and not over tighten the spring bushings. Eliminating the side sway (flex) substantially improves steering, handling and safety.

The Birfield Joints are located inside the steering knuckles on the front axles and are required to drive the front wheels and to enable the wheels to turn side to side for steering. On a truck equipped with a locker and large tires it has been observed that during 4 wheel operation, when the wheels are turned hard over that the joint is in its weakest position and under load may disintegrate, this could severely impair your ability to steer the truck. We have manufactured these rings to be pressed over the joint to reinforce them. As there is not much room inside the knuckle housing some grinding is required with a die grinder to give more clearance. The rings have been designed to keep this grinding to a minimum, by sizing and a radius on the corners to minimize interference.

Eliminate the pain of hearing your differential housing smashing over solid rock by installing a set of our Differential covers. These thick steel units are welded over your factory housing. This forms a virtually unpenetrable shield while spreading out the impact over a wider area. Their curved shape allows the differential to safely slide over obstacles - and does not affect ground clearance. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the cover to allow water, mud and debris to exit. Access to the filler hole is not impeded. The covers are available for Suzuki Samurai and Toyota 8" differentials.

Drain Plug Wear Plates (Toyota Only) Our Drain Plug Wear Plates offer increased protection for the Toyota oil drain plug by completely surrounding the differential drain plug AND the factory protective ring. The plate is slightly curved to match the curvature of the axle housing. Once welded in place, the Wear Plate helps prevent rocks from contacting the drain plug and axle housing. This greatly reduces the risk of a lost or damaged drain plug. The beveled edges and rounded corners help the plate slide over the rocks. There is a slight amount of decreased ground clearance however the added safety and protection of a vital piece of your truck more than makes up for it.

The spacer is required when changing the differential gear sets (Ring & Pinion) from stock 372 Gears to Tracker or Sidekick 462 or 513 gears. The new Ring gear is narrower and requires a spacer, to position the carrier in the proper position. The tube is required to retain the Spider-Gear pins in the carrier that were previously retained by the old 372 Ring gear. This tube is machined to allow the pins to rotate but not to slide out of the spider gear block. Note: On some carriers the tube will require dimpling to retain it in position.
